Lana Kress
Accomplished country artist cuts hot new CD

By Brad D Morley

The Northwest has a very talented singer-songwriter hitting the streets. Lana Kress performed at Bushwhackers in Tualatin, opening for country artist Steve Azar. From the moment she takes the stage, the audience is alert and ready; her confidence as a performer comes across immediately as she greets her fans and welcomes new faces.

Kress started out singing at the young age of 13, performing at her aunt’s wedding. After positive feedback and support, she began honing her adult skills at the Roadhouse Grill in Gresham, Ore. Starting and running a Karaoke business allowed Kress to further develop as a singer. It was during this time she fell in love with the country artists that found success in the ‘90s. Artists such as Shania Twain, Lisa Bishop, Faith Hill and Martina McBride provided her a foundation to follow and develop into a country artist.

A positive outlook has helped through the years and is shown by early achievements in life such as being class president. Kress was a varsity athlete in three sports; soccer, basketball and softball. She learned a good work ethic as a young adult; she brings that forward to her adult life.

As a day job, Kress uses her college education in business and accounting to develop and run an internet mall, offering millions of products and services. This recurring business revenue now allows her the freedom to pursue her music to a high degree.

On releasing her first album Be Careful What You Wish For, Kress used her skills on the internet to market herself to the open world via the WorldWide Web.

In her business on the internet, Kress has achieved success through DJs and promoters worldwide, Her first CD release reached #17 on the cdbaby site. With a very professional website, Kress is available to fans. You can sample her songs and buy records, as well as keep up-to-date on upcoming show dates.

Good show dates are crucial for a new artist and Kress seems to get only the best. In opening for artists such as Travis Tritt, Dierks Bentley, Sara Evans, Alison Krauss and Carolyn Dawn, it allows her the exposure to build a local fan base. Her goal is to reach people with music that is entertaining as well as empowering hoping to change the world one song at a time.

Kress’ next show is Sept. 19 at The Buffalo Gap, 6835 S.W. Macadam. After that, she travels to L.A. to perform at Bravehearts Got Talent, Oct. 3

Kress will fly to Nashville, TN, this month to finish recording her second CD entitled Little Bird. A third CD is in the works “about my spiritual journey,” says Kress. Watch for more in future PE&D issues.
