A neighborhood business is a challenge in any economic climate; however, Chopsticks has survived on providing quality products. The extensive menu of Hong Kong, Cantonese, Szechuan and American menu items have drawn praise throughout Clark County. There is no secret in consistency and success; in the Chopsticks Lounge lives another grand jewel in the neighborhood, Randy Burt. If you have never heard his music, check it out. Burt began performing at Chopsticks Lounge in the early ‘80s. A one-man performer, Burt has developed into a musical entertainer and local icon. Folks from around the area know that if they want to dance and have a great time, Wednesday through Saturday, Burt is ripping it up at Chopsticks Lounge.
Born into a musical family, Burt received his first guitar and was playing at the age of 10-years-old. He got the guitar bug early and to this day admits he's “guitar crazy.” He performed with his brother's band in the beginning days and developed his one-man band over the years to stay close to home after spending years on the road. Burt performs on guitar and vocals, along with a foot pedal bass line and programmed drum machine. The effect fills the room and entices the dancers to the dance floor. Burt has a vast repertoire of music styles and is user friendly to the audience requests. Besides his ability to perform, Burt writes and records his original music. He is collaborating with other local musicians on his fifth album due out soon.
