Blues by the Sea celebrates
10 years, slates top bands
The opening page of the Blues By The Sea website says, “We are glad you are here and are interested in the Biggest Blues Festival on the Oregon Coast and we look forward to seeing you at Blues By The Sea 2009, Sept. 18-29.”
This warm and inviting statement contains the essence of this event. Everyone is happy, relaxed and all come together with the express purpose of eating, talking, napping and just laying back for the weekend, with the sounds of great blues bands wafting over them like a fuzzy blanket.
Blues By The Sea is moving to a new location for 2009.The Clatsop County Fairgrounds> in Astoria, Ore., will house the festival. The date has also been adjusted to Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Blues By The Sea (1999-2009). It was decided that the return to Clatsop County will present the best of Blues By The Sea, with many of the best performers from the past 10 years returning.

Scheduled to perform (so far) are: Robbie Laws, JunkYard Jane, The Randy Oxford Band, Lisa Mann, Paris Slim, Hudson Rocket Band, Bucket of Blues, Condition Blue, Kolvane, The Strange Tones, Alice Stuart, Bruce Smith, Swing Cats, LIttle Bill, Becky Sue & Her Big Rockin Daddies, Big Fish, Bond Street Blues Band, Big Monti and more!
This event is the ultimately satisfying icing-on-the-cake for all music lovers; with camping available, it’s easy to make it a weekend adventure.
