Barbara Cecil brings blend
of sass & class to Hodney's

By M Hardisty

Hodney's Family Grille & Sports Pub, at 22418 S.W. Pine St. in Sherwood, offers live music every Saturday night to its increasingly popular family-oriented fare.

With the assistance of Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts' fame keyboardist Lance Parsons, Barbara Cecil's first-Saturday-night-a-month venue brings a welcome blend of sass and class to this old-town Sherwood dig.

Performances of Cecil's own Oh Daddy or Roadhouse Angels far outshine those done by other artists. While her covers of the likes of Martina McBride, Patsy Cline or Faith Hill won't command $55-$75 a seat, the right songwriting "polish" might well yield Cecil national caliber results...and prices.

Hodney's presents a family friendly environment with a $4.95 kids menu (includes their drink) for kids 10 and under. Kids are welcome in the dining area until closing except Saturdays. The dining area closes down at 9 p.m. for music and dancing.

In the pub, it's happy hour all day, every day, with $4 and under appetizers. Check it out for additional specials.

Some specials are geared to the day-of-the-week, such as Monday Madness with a food and drink combo and 2-for1 Tuesday where two can eat for the price of 1 when you order two meals and two beverages.

Wild Wednesday presents all-you-can-eat homemade spaghetti with garlic toast for $7.95, followed by drink specials on Thirsty Thursdays.

Fantastic Fridays offer a grilled sirloin or a chicken breast dinner for $9.95; add a shrimp skewer for $3. Saturdays offer a prime rib dinner and Sundays feature Angus beef/chicken-fried steak all day for $8.95.

Breakfast is served Saturday-Sunday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. All this is in addition to their regular menu!

At no cover, Hodney's is providing one of this downturned economy's best bargains, as well as a full compliment for everyone else to "polish" off. Be sure to see Barbara Cecil there April 4.
