The Wichita Pub in Milwaukie, located at 6106 S.E. King Road, is a neighborhood pub featuring a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere. It's a place where a visitor can stop by for an evening cocktail, a bite to eat, a game of pool or just good time hanging out with friends.
The inside of the place lends itself to getting comfortable. With rough-hewn tables and booths and a roomy layout, it's easy to get settled. The layout has a large separate pool room with eight pool tables, shuffleboards, a video poker area with five machines. There's an internet jukebox and the latest in barroom video games.
The Wichita Pub is a family-owned establishment and has been in the Milwaukie for manyyears. As a family operated business, they've taken great efforts to become a well-known and supportive part of the community and immediate neighborhood. The pub is owned by Jack Donaugh and operated by sons Blaise and Tony. As a result, they have become a destination venue for neighborhood regulars to go and stop in and enjoy an evening on in a familiar, part of the family setting. It's like a home away from home.
The location is ideal. Located on busy King Road, The Wichita Pub is set in a small, local strip mall next to a grocery store and other neighborhood stores. It's convenient and nobody has to drive far for a nice afternoon or evening out. Just go do your shopping, then drop in for lunch!
The theme is sports bar with feature football events on ten ft. high-def TV and monitors located throughout the different parts of the bar. In the middle of the main area is a large group table where up to 20 people can gather for an evening. The clientele ranges from all ages and there's a good crowd throughout the afternoon, early evening and at night.
A big part of visiting the Wichita Pub is dining. They have an impressive menu featuring specialty sandwiches, salads, steaks, featured burgers, seafood entrees and chicken. They also have a "South of the Border" section and the usual appetizers both as individual selections and as sampler platters. Service is quick and friendly and your food comes without delay.
On this visit, this writer stopped in for lunch and to read the newest issue of Positively Entertainment and Dining magazine to the tune of a bacon cheeseburger and fries. It was filling, fresh and tasty. It definitely hit the spot!
