Sassy Jack's staff and ownership are all about people.

"I expect people to come here and have a good time," says owner Jackie Weberg. "If people come here and my bartender is friendly and my regulars are friendly, they will come back because they feel they're part".

"It's very clean," she says emphasizing the pub's high standards. "I'm not going to tell everybody that we have games and video poker because everyone has it. We have personality and I'd like to invite everyone to come and see us."

She issued this challenge to PE readers, "If anyone reads this article and comes in to see us, I'll buy them a drink!"

Like most bars and pubs, Sassy Jack's has the usual assortment of video poker, Oregon Lottery, sports TV programming and digital jukebox. There are three pool tables for billiards, a roomy dance floor and a Karaoke stage.

The primary entertainment at Sassy Jack's is Karaoke hosted by KJ Scott Davis. He is one of the five original KJs in Portland from the early days in the 1990s. A KJ for more than 15 years, Davis has KJ'ed at Sassy Jack's for over five years and hosts Wednesday through Saturday nights. An old-school KJ, he strives to bring real karaoke to his singers. He brings extras to his show like a genuine old-school Shure 58M Elvis mic, a complete library of his singers, song slips for future reference, along with a completely modern and updated computer-based song library. The sound gear features JBL main monitors. The stage decoration is unique, made completely of old LP covers with 45 records and instruments hanging from the ceiling.

"I try to bring real Karaoke, not mixing DJ and Karaoke," Davis says. "I don't mix the two together. I run very honest rotation, and I'm very old school that way. I like the old school. I try to make people feel like they're welcome, and I support them. I'm not a star wannabe!"

Sassy Jack's also offers events such as Bingo on Saturdays, 5-7 p.m., Taco Tuesdays, along with $2 shrimp cocktails anytime. They are also planning a New Year's Eve party with live music featuring the band Idle Hands.

For their food menu, Sassy's offers homemade soups, salads and sandwiches. And, by the way, make a point of trying a delicious bowl of hot chili; it really hits the spot on a cold winter's night!!

Drop in sometime to sing a song and have a bite to eat. You'll be welcomed and made to feel right at home! Be sure to mention this article!
