The sports Page combines extensive sports coverage with nightly Karaoke
By Dan Golden
Mixed in amongst the mini-malls along East Mill Plain Blvd. in Vancouver, Wash., is the aptly named Sports Page Bar & Grill. It combines a nearly religious devotion to every televised sport imaginable with nightly Karaoke fun and a friendly staff; this place hits a home run every time. Open weekdays at 11 a.m. for lunch and 8 a.m. on weekends for sports fans, the Sports Page feels like the den you always dreamed of.
The main attraction here is the incredible sports coverage. A central big screen, flanked by seven other strategically placed TV monitors, provide multiple platforms for viewing a constant barrage of covered events. Armed with the NFL Sunday Ticket and ESPN Gameplan packages, you won't miss a minute of your favorite contest. Prize giveaways, along with food and beverage specials help keep the good times rolling.
The Sports Page menu gives viewers many choices. Breakfast is served all day, including a "Hangover Helper" and several other morning meal favorites. Appetizers, such as the team size nachos, pave the way for lunch and dinner selections, each with sports related monikers. There are "Grand Slam" sandwiches and burgers, a half dozen salad choices and more. Some featured items, like the "Crazy Burger" and the "Sports Page Trip To The Sea," will fill the inner linebacker you won't admit to.
Beverages are another story, with $2 weekday drink specials, happy hour pricing 4 to 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to midnight and extra discounts during games. Everything is swiftly served by a friendly staff that seems to anticipate your needs.
True to its name, the Sports Page also offers an array of on-site competition. Every Wednesday night, free Texas Hold 'Em takes over, with USTP sign-up at 6 p.m. Pinball, darts and pool are available as well, with pinball and video games yet another option. A digital jukebox provides the soundtrack for all of this interactive activity.
Every night of the week, Karaoke is offered through the sound and lighting systems provided and hosted by Russ Wathen Entertainment. Thousands of song titles, a microphone and a bit of encouragement offer amateur singers the chance to step into the spotlight for a few fleeting moments. The audience is kind enough to support the action, applauding every level of performance. A special Halloween costume party ensures spooky pleasure on Friday, the 31st.
Save the cost of adding a den to your home by taking a ride out to the eastside to the Sports Page, 8052 E. Mill Plain in Vancouver, Wash. A front row, reserved seat is waiting for you!
