On the shores of the Adriatic, miles of blue umbrellas
line the beaches as far as the eye can see. Hotels with beautifully
tiled and ornate swimming pools and tropical gardens soften the light
of the bright Italian sun. Vacationers and day-trippers splash with
abandon in the warm ocean; sunbathers sigh with blissful contentment
as a cool breeze wafts over their bronzed bodies. This sandy strip
of paradise is the beach community of Lido Di Jesolo, located 11
miles north of Venice.
Lido Di Jesolo is a relatively small town that
retains a laid-back and comfortable atmosphere. Other than a few
tall hotels on the beach, there are no high-rises.
By day, the beach community and streets are quiet
with most visitors going to Venice for the afternoon. Many locals
ride their bikes, scooters, or walk to their destinations and work.
In the evening, Jesolo springs to life, as the
main street (Via Levantina) through town closes to vehicles and becomes
a pedestrian thoroughfare. Restaurants are abuzz with diners taking
advantage of the cool night air and outdoor seating. Shops and boutiques
line the palm tree-lined sidewalks with the newest European fashions,
shoes, souvenirs, Gelato stands, art and jewelry. Small bars and
bistros are also in abundance with laughter and music flowing out
into the street, charging the night air with excitement. Just walking
from one end of town to the other, licking a Gelato and browsing
among the colorful shops and admiring the Italian architecture is
fun in Jesolo.
With so many restaurants and bistros in every
direction, it’s hard to choose, but keep one recommendation in mind
for awesome Italian pizza, espresso and unbelievable desserts, Rica
Roca on Via Olanda. This restaurant comes recommended from locals
and even other restaurants. Rica Roca’s prices are moderate and the
staff is outstandingly friendly. The outside seating at Rica Roca
is also a great place to people watch.

As for hotels in Lido Di Jesolo, there are literally
hundreds running from north of town to the ferry terminal that goes
to Venice in the south end. The hotels that are located on the beach
range from 80 euros per person a night to 500 euros per person a
night. Most of the better hotels include breakfast.
Since Jesolo is a hot spot for Europeans during
their summer vacation, the optimal time to visit is in May and Venice
is a bit less crowded as well. The temperature averages 70 to 80
degrees during the day, and in the 50s at night. The ocean is also
warm for swimming in May. The beaches are practically empty and it’s
easy to get a decent room with an ocean front view. In fact, visitors
who want to explore their options without booking ahead will find
excellent deals upon arrival and have their choice of hotels.
If you want the security of booking ahead, make
sure you do your research online. The styles and prices of hotels
vary greatly in range and most ocean front rooms at a moderate price
are small and sometimes cramped. Additional information on hotels
in Lido Di Jesolo listed at conclusion of article.
A good recommendation for a moderately-priced
hotel with clean rooms, a good bed and excellent balcony to sit and
gaze at the ocean is the Best Western Brasilia, located on the main
street Via Levatina. The staff is friendly, helpful and speaks English
well. The hotel’s pool is crystal blue, large and elaborately tiled
and surrounded by palm plants, flowers, chaise lounges, chairs, tables
and sun umbrellas. In addition, it is just steps away from the sea.
The sidewalk, or strand in front of the pool and lounging area goes
north and south along the beach for ten miles; it’s perfect for a
long evening stroll or early morning jog. The Brasilia will also
help you with information, directions and recommendations if you
plan to visit Venice; take advantage of their services, it’s a real
time saver!

in Lido De Jesolo

Lido Di Jesolo is a superb, sunny and mellow place
to vacation and a much smarter choice to stay if you plan to visit
Venice. A simple air-conditioned tour bus ride (about 30 minutes)
will take you from the main street to the south end of Jesolo to
the ferry terminal. The ferry costs about 10 Euros and takes about
45 minutes to arrive in front of St. Marcs Square in Venice. Visitors
avoid the nightmare of traffic and exorbitant cost of parking in
the terminals outside of Venice, not to mention the cost of accommodations
in Venice.
