Club Underground

By Dan Crothers

The hottest club on the Westside! Entertainment seven nights a week. Club Underground is one of the most unique clubs around.

People of all ages over 21 come here. You might see 60-year-olds dancing along with 20-year-olds. A "Fear Factor" game is played on Thursday nights. "Do you have what it takes?" When you pay a $5 entry fee, you could walk away $100 richer. Plus you hear lots of screams of delight watching people do the most bizarre things.

The owners, Randy Armstrong and John Wegner, put the money back into the club and the people. For instance, they have spent thousands of dollars making sure that you are safe when you visit. Security cameras from the parking lot, throughout the club, make sure nothing happens to jeopardize the fun and safe atmosphere. They have been certified by the department of safety D.P.S.S.T.

Check your coat or purse at the front and they will protect your possessions. The waitress or bartender has been taught that the customer is number one. With service etiquette lacking in many places today, these two owners have spent years in the business applying the knowledge of what makes a social club operate smoothly with all the fun you can cram into a night out.

Club Underground provides four micro beers, 14 domestic beers on tap, full service bar and absolutely the best sound system available anywhere. Which brings us to the greatest feature, the DJ and the variety of music that you can request. They keep it moving with one of the largest music collections, from Elvis to the latest hip hop. It's the hottest club around; you should try to get there early because there is a line at the door starting at 9 p.m.

There's always a dinner and drink special for the night with menu items like Prime Rib with baked potato or any kind of salad imaginable; your choice for only $10.95. They also specialize in hamburgers, big and in any combination of additives.

Club Underground is such a happening place that they even print their own newsletter; people can even write articles if they are so inclined. It lets everyone know what's happening every night of the week. Pool tournaments are three nights a week, nine-ball, eight-ball, darts and they give away money and prizes.

Here's one for this month's "RIDDLES FOR VIDDLES." Win money and prizes for guessing the answer to the riddle. "My first name is a real ripper, but it's not my whole name, the last part is the original street light, can you guess my name?" Guess that and win.

If you are interested in dance lessons on Wednesday nights between 7:30-9 p.m. and have always wanted to learn swing, salsa, cha cha, two step and line dance, the club started lessons this month.

They have added a Little Store Underground with snacks, drinks, coats, hats, cameras and more, with great designs and logos.

Every Monday night, Club Underground awards five chances during half time for the opportunity to win $500 cash during "Underground's Super Bowl Sunday Bash." It costs nothing! All you have to do is sign up with the bartender before half time and win. There's always a coupon special for those who pick up the newsletter. Bring the coupon during a Saturday or Sunday Football game and receive "two free hotdogs," for instance.

All this fun is brought to you by "Lidgett Entertainment." Mike Lidgett is a very likable guy who learned way back in the '70s with companies like Cattle Company how to create nightly entertainment. Who would have thought you could get those rip roaring days you used to enjoy in the '60s and '70s back? Club Underground has done just that. Part of the success is due to the audience participation. Everything they do includes the customer in all the fun. Multi-ages, multi-racial, multiply fun times a thousand.

Karaoke is Sunday and Monday, with free pool on Sundays and Lotto games too. This place is big, so they've got everything under the sun, or rather underground. There's plenty of parking and easy to find off the TV Highway just past 185th in the basement in the Aloha Mall at 18641 S.W. TV Hwy. Call them at 503-649-1006 or check out their website and email them at www.clubunderground.home.attbi.com.
