Leslie Marie at Bogeys

by Eric Donaldson

On a recent Thursday evening, this writer was invited to Bogey’s at Gresham Golf Course to spend an evening with the very lovely and extremely talented Leslie Marie at her piano bar.

Marie is a classically trained pianist and has toured with and played in some of the Northwest’s most popular bands for the last ten years or so.

Marie’s now decided to leave the “road life,” and settle-down a bit. In so doing, she is re-inventing the classic “piano bar” of years gone by, but with a twist –adding live Karaoke to the mix on Fridays and Saturdays.

Marie plays at Bogey’s every Thursday through Saturday, with the following structure (but it’s very flexible, and subject to change at a moments notice as the evenings progress…): Thursdays are started as the “piano bar” night, with Marie performing classic torch songs, as well as more current fare. She’s always quick to respond to requests or to invite someone up to sing with her on her ever-present guest microphone.

Fridays and Saturdays take on a more party feel, as these nights are built more for Karaoke-style singing. Marie takes on all requests and all singers, often leading to nights of entertainment that are quite memorable, indeed!
On the night this writer visited (happily sharing a table with publisher Bonnie Carter), everyone in the room was completely caught-up in the musical spell woven by Marie and every person was having a terrific time!

Bogey’s is located at Gresham Golf Course, at 2155 N.E. Division in Gresham, and is a very warm, inviting restaurant-with-bar, featuring specials several nights a week and breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Under the watchful eyes of Manager Cindy Bailey, things move very smoothly, as customer’s orders arrive quickly, are well presented, and, judging by the approving smiles all around, the fare is very, very good.

The restaurant is known for its potato dishes and for its prime rib & eggs breakfasts every Sunday. Which isn’t to say that’s all that’s available; the menu is varied and extensive, with something for most everyone in your party.

Thursdays are ladies nights, with drink specials and 50¢ beers. Sundays are Service Industry nights, with various specials available to those who work in the service Industry (and you know who you are!).

No matter what day, or what time of day, you’ll always be made to feel welcome at Bogey’s and with Leslie Marie at the keyboards (and with her terrific voice!), you’re certain to have a fun, memorable time.

Check it out this weekend!
