Numbered Days
By: K.R. Laurent
At Shanahan’s, a quaint Irish pub in Vancouver, Wash., the
music room was introduced to Numbered Days, a rock band from Longview,
Wash.
These lads unleashed their show with the heart and soul of
champions. Performing songs from their full-length original CD Under
the Umbilical Tree, the band rocked the house. The innovative
and progressive music, along with the lyrics, make you stop and take
notice. The show takes you on musical twists, tight turns, pounding
rhythms, all wrapped up in a free-floating ambience of thought.
Under the Umbilical Tree, a story of love found and lost, expresses
transcendent feelings of freedom with the trappings of the world;
the music creates a life of it’s own. Like a polished stone, Numbered
Days performed with all the qualities of a big name touring band.
Lead singer and guitarist Bryan Lewis fronts the band. His
powerful and controlled vocal style evokes some kind of familiarity,
yet he truly creates his own sound. Intertwining his rhythm guitar
with his vocals, Lewis passionately delivers.
Lead guitarist and vocalist Greg Stone supports Lewis with
the story-telling vocal duties. Stone shines bright with his fluid
lead lines, along with his dynamic and progressive power chops. The
two blend well together.
The power section of the band includes Andrew Phillips on
drums and Chris Halleck on the bass guitar. Phillips adds a power
that encapsulates the drive of the band. Phillips works his craft
to a professional level, playing with a combined tightness and power.
Halleck blends in the clarity of the bass guitar lines to enhance
the band’s overall sound. His driven and tasty performance is definitely
noteworthy.
When you put these four lads together with their pro-level
sound and performance abilities, the dedication to original music
and lyrics, and add the band’s released CD, these guys are primed
to elevate their presence. Keep a watch and listen for Numbered Days.
