Southern Breakdown
Story by Daneeze

Southern Breakdown is not just another country band. This very talented group of country artists and musicians is one of the best bands playing country music in this town.

Southern Breakdown is bandleader "Montana" Tim on rhythm guitar and vocals; Kenny Rae on drums and vocals; Rick Gaskill on lead guitar and vocals; Keith Allen on bass and vocals; Eric West on slide steel and banjo; and Scott Madison on fiddle. All vocalists sing both lead and backup harmony.

The band plays old time Merle Haggard, George Jones, Hank Williams Sr. and the ever popular Patsy Cline, complete with country twang as good as anyone. They play some of country's latest hits as well, along with a few original tunes of their own.

In spite of all this band has to offer in the way of talent and tenacity, the crowd was sparse at Bogey's this night. These guys are worthy of much more attention than they're getting, particularly from hard core country music fans, who want real country. From the tip of their cowboy boots to the top of their Stetson hats, Southern Breakdown is real country through and through, a name to remember and a band worth seeing. Check out their ad and Bandstand for up-coming performances.

Bogey's, located at the Gresham Golf Course, 2155 N.E. Division, is the place to go for a nice lunch or dinner and a few rounds of golf. The food is good and the atmosphere is pleasant.

During the day, you can gaze out over the scenic golf course through the big and beautiful aluminum picture windows, while sitting at the red leather upholstered booths. Or, you may sit at the full service bar and have a cocktail with your meal. At night, though the atmosphere is different, you can no longer see the golf course and the natural light of the day is replaced by canned lighting turned down low.

Starting in January, Bogey's will feature Karaoke with Jackson and Kelly, Thursday through Sunday. Don't miss the Superbowl on big screen and check out the Valentine's Day Golf Tournament. Call 661-0999 for details.
