10th Annual NW Food & Wine Festival
Event draws patrons of fine cuisine & spirits
The Northwest Food & Wind Festival has a reputa- tion for bringing together exceptional wineries and wonderful restaurants.
The Northwest's legendary food and wine festival will be celebrating its 10th year at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel at the Lloyd Center Exhibit Hall and Ballroom, 1000 N.E. Mult- nomah St, 4-8 p.m. It brings guests an experience unlike any other in the area. Known for the highest quality cuisine from the areas best-known and adored chefs and for a plethora of wineries, spirits and beers, this festival continues to bring everyone together.
Food centric areas at the festival include: Pate's, A Fungus Affair that optimizes the flavors of mushrooms, A Bite of Culture - Cheese at Its Best, Lovely Lamb, A Sau- sage Slam and new this year, Duck - Prepare for incoming bites and of course, Oysters - Get Shellfish. Many more chefs simply whip up bites that have inspired them to be tasted by a winery they have paired up with. It's a food connoisseur's wonderland!
With an array of wineries that are not often at other tasting events, the festival makes for a very desirable destination for the wine enthusiasts that simply would rather not drive for hours. "Our guests always uncover a few new favorites at the festival and it seems nothing makes them happier than to be able to say, Hey I'm a member of that wine club when they see friends on the festival floor." For the second year, the festival wel- comes special wine guests from Lodi, CA. Ten top Lodi produc- ers will be on the floor to sam- ple and introduce their juices to lucky guests. "It's a different tasting experience altogether for local's and exposes them to the variety of wines rarely seen in the Northwest." says Festival Director Tina Curry. Many of the wineries sell their bottles at the festival to take home for later enjoyment or offer free shipping if they are from out of state. This year, the cocktail camp segment is doing demonstrations for attendees that aim to impress their own guests with their new found recipes and skills. Curry says, "We used to do cocktail com- petitions, but it seems to make more sense to let the guests experience and learn in this venue. These are the things that make this festival so much fun. Each year brings new things to explore and taste."
